Dual Drive is running slowly. How can I get it to run faster?

  1. Close all other open programs. Also try restarting your computer.
  2. Having less computer controlled cars (bots) will help the game run faster. You can lower or remove the bots in the Options menu.
  3. Lowering the resolution of Dual Drive will help it run faster. You can lower the resolution by opening the Options menu then clicking the “Graphics” tab. Change the “resolution” to a lower value. You may then want to either put Dual Drive in “full screen” mode or lower the resolution of your monitor, so that Dual Drive takes up most of the screen at this lower resolution.
    See: Changing resolution tutorial
  4. Dual Drive may run faster in full screen mode (Options Menu -> Graphics -> Full Screen). Press Alt-Enter to switch back and forth between full screen mode and windowed mode.
  5. If you are using two monitors make sure Dual Drive is running on your primary monitor.
    See: Switching monitors tutorial
  6. Your computer (especially if you are using a laptop), may not have a graphics card capable of accelerating Dual Drive. Make sure the laptop or desktop you are using has a recent ATI or nVidia graphics card with OpenGL acceleration. If you are using a desktop you can purchase a new ATI or nVidia card (look for something in the $70-$150 range). If you are using a laptop you will have to get a new computer to further improve performance.
  7. It is possible that if you have less than 512Mb of RAM upgrading RAM will improve the speed of Dual Drive, but the graphics card and processor speed are much more important.
  8. Certain levels in Dual Drive will run slower, as they are more complex. You can skip these levels by pressing Ctrl-N after the level loads.
